Kelly Rowland was seen on the Cannes red carpet on Tuesday evening, seemingly expressing disapproval towards an usher after being hurried up the stairs by festival staff.

Rowland attended the premiere of “Marcello Mio,” a film in competition at the festival. As she proceeded up the red carpet, she paused for the photographers capturing her image.

In a video, an usher is observed gesturing towards Rowland twice, seemingly signaling for her to ascend the stairs at the Palais des Festivals.

As the Destiny’s Child star climbs the stairs, a group of three ushers, all dressed in black, surround her, forming a barrier on one side that directs her towards the right of the staircase.

At one moment, while Rowland turns to acknowledge someone in the crowd behind her, two additional ushers emerge behind her, gesturing with their hands to guide her up the stairs.

One of the ushers, a woman in a black suit, maintains her arm extended very close to Rowland’s back. Rowland gently touches the usher’s outstretched arm with a smile, as if to indicate that it’s unnecessary, and proceeds to walk purposefully up the stairs.

However, the usher persists in holding her arm aloft, with her fingers spread out close to Rowland’s back. Rowland turns again to the usher, appearing to express disapproval. As Rowland exits the stairs and enters the Palais, the usher repeats the action with a woman who appears to be accompanying Rowland. Kelly Rowland

The Cannes Film Festival is renowned for its stringent red carpet regulations, including its dress code. There were reports that women were once prohibited from the Cannes red carpet unless they were wearing heels, though this policy was amended following criticism during the 2015 edition.  Kelly Rowland

Additionally, Cannes implemented a ban on selfies on the red carpet starting in 2018. Officials stated that the ban aimed to streamline the entry process into the Palais.

Furthermore, attendees are directed to move along if they linger for too long. In 2013, socialite Lady Victoria Hervey, a frequent attendee of Cannes, was allegedly asked to vacate the area after spending an extended period posing for photographers on the red carpet outside the Palais.  Kelly Rowland

A spokesperson for Cannes declined to provide a comment on the matter. Representatives for Rowland did not respond prior to the deadline.
